Drug Testing
Urinalysis / Urine Drug Testing
Urinalysis or Urine Drug Testing Kits are also a non-intrusive testing method. The specimen is collected in a small cup and the test cassette is dipped into the urine sample. Test results are available in about 5 minutes and can detect drugs used in the past 72-84 hours. We offer a variety of test kits that can test from 5 to 10 different types of drugs which allows you to choose the drugs that you want to test for.
Urine Drug Testing can be performed using two different types of drug test kits. The first type of test is the Test Cassette. This cassette style is very easy to use. Simply dip the test cassette into the urine specimen and wait for the test results. There is no need to use a pipette or any other testing equipment. However, we do recommend that you use our
Personal Protection Testing Kit which includes a pair of medical grade latex-free nitrile gloves and a sterile urine sample container.
The second type of Urine Test Kit is the newly developed all-in-one
DrugCheck Urine Drug Test Cup. This test cup includes a sterile urine test sample container with built-in drug test kit and temperature sensor to curb adulteration of the sample (ensures the urine is at body temperature). The test cup is self-sealing and provides a very sanitary and efficient way to test urine.

Drug Testing In The Workplace
Drug Pre-Screening for Upcoming Tests
If you have an upcoming drug test, it may be in your best interest to pre-screen or pre-test yourself with one of our drug test kits for peace of mind and to make sure you won't test positive.
Why Drug Test Yourself?
As you already know, more and more companies in Canada are pre-screening and testing for drug and alcohol use. Why take the chance of losing your job? Testing yourself first makes sense because you will know the outcome of the test before you even take it.
Word of warning: on-site testing is not 100% accurate. Each of the test kits is designed with a pre-determined SAMHSA testing cut-off level. This means that if you have a very low amount of that specific drug in your system and that amount is below the SAMHSA testing cut-off level, you will test negative for drug use. However, if the test is verified in a lab, the GC/MS (Gas Chromatography / Mass Spectrometry) technology that is used will detect any trace amount of the substance in your system. This means you will test positive for drug use if you have ANY trace of that drug in your system.
If you want to be absolutely sure of the test results then use one of our
Hair Follicle Drug Test Kits as they use the same GC/MS technology and provide CLIA certified lab results.
Using Drug Testing As A Preventative Tool
Home Drug Testing
Home drug screening and testing is just one part of a drug free home commitment. Once that commitment has been made, there must be a way to ensure that your family remains accountable and committed to a Drug Free Home. Home drug testing is an effective method to accomplish this.
Drug Use Statistics
Many of us don't realize that drug and alcohol use can being at a very young age. Here is a small sampling of statistics from Health Canada:
- 63% of 11 year-olds have tried alcohol.
- By the time these same children reach the age of 13, 36% of them will be considered "binge drinkers".
- 17% of 12 year-olds have tried marijuana (also known as pot or weed).
- Teens with unsupervised time are 3 times more likely to use marijuana or other drugs.
Early detection of drug use has been found to be a key factor in the prevention of long-term drug and alcohol abuse and resulting consequences. Detection of drug and alcohol use can be very difficult unless you are aware of the signs and symptoms of substance abuse.
Here is a great resource to help you identify if drug and alcohol use is a problem in your home.
Unfortunately, many parents realize only too late that their children or teenagers are facing drug or alcohol problems. Families need to be more proactive and make a commitment to a drug-free home before there are signs of substance abuse.
This is a
Drug Free Home Contract that you can use to help talk to your family about drugs. It is not meant as a legally binding contract, but more of an awareness aid and a tool to get your family serious about committing to a drug free home and lifestyle.
If there is already someone in your home that has a substance abuse problem, it may be necessary to hold that person to "staying clean" by instituting a random drug check policy. Knowing that he or she could be tested any day could act as a deterrent for further drug use. This should be used in addition to other programs including 12-Step Programs and professional therapy.
